I Love to see the Temple, I'll Go Inside Someday!

So many of you are probably getting ready to enter the temple for the first time and it can be a nerve racking experience! Its completely normal to be a bit nervous but keep the knowledge that it is the House of the Lord and that going to the temple is coming to Christ. Personally I went through the the Billings Montana temple a little over a month ago and although I felt like I prepared there was much more I could have done in regards to using what was right in front of me! So what recommendations do I have for you? Get a copy of Your Endowment by Mark Shields (its available at amazon.com)this book is extremly helpful in defining key terms, concepts, and doctrines. Also scriptures I highly recommend you read is Exodus Chapter 40 as well as Genesis 1-3 or read the Pearl of Great Price these will help you immensely and I think that they will illuminate your understanding as you receive your own endowment! Any other scriptures you also recommend I would LOVE to hear so comment below!

Messenger Bag or Backpack? Why Compromise!

So I personally am going to a mission where I have to ride a bike but messenger bags are required for sisters! Well I had the issue that I am suppose to ride a bike, wear a skirt, and have a bag flopping on my side? This seemed impossible until I realized that there are multipurpose bags that double as messengers and backpacks! I decided to search on Amazon.com and I was very lucky that I found one that leather, cute, and durable. My recommendation is buy this style of bag because its standard to have a messenger for sisters but some presidents allow backpacks so why buy both when you get a two for one?! What is your experience with bags? Any great bags you have found? I would LOVE to hear from you all!

Hey Macklemore Can We Go Thrift Shopping?

So this past week my great friend received her mission call to Bolivia and to celebrate we went to the DI like any good mormon. And I finally took peoples advice to go and look at their skirts, I found 2 GREAT SKIRTS! Did I mention for the 2 it was only $10? Before I had thought well why wouldn't I spend hundreds of dollars on all new outfits that I will keep my whole mission long? Then after talking to my RM friends I remembered that you will be wearing a skirt for 18 months which accounts for almost 588 days and with only packing maybe 10 skirts you will wear that around 59 times? So my advice is yes spend good money on the black, navy, and tan skirt but then get some fun ones that are cheap because you won't feel bad giving a $4 skirt to a Salvation Army but a $70 skirt will depart with some guilt! Plus there are places to buy on your mission so hit those places up and constantly rotate your wardrobe by giving away and thrift shopping the rest so really take it from Macklemore!

Acne Say Hello, And You Say GOODBYE! Hello! Hello!

So where is everyone going? I am sure most of us will be going to areas that are the complete opposite of where we are from like me! The only places I have ever lived have been Wyoming until I moved to Idaho for college and then I got called to ALABAMA where today the humidity is up to 84% today and in Rexburg its 23% so I am not use to ANY type of humidity!

So what are we dry people to do? Well with such an extreme climate change in either direction your skin is going to freak out so hello acne! But there are a few things that I have found work wonderfully, in humid climates you will be sweating way more than you ever have before so you are going to want to wipe your face off twice a day with cleansing alcohol. I know it sounds weird but it will help even out your oil imbalance! But where ever you go keep it balanced because if your skin is super oily or dry it still needs moisture, also I recommend cleanser and toner as well. And when you first get there and zits are more common than investigators invest in Adult Acnomel it seriously is wonderful!
And what skin care products do I recommend? Mary Kay Botanical collection it's refreshing and simple and did I mention ALL NATURAL? Also a great acne remedy is Caster-oil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, this will eliminate unsightly blotches!

TOMS!

So I love TOMS, I think they are so cute, comfortable, and everything a shoe should be yet as I look at the church website they definitely don't show that type of shoe! Although I feel like they are different and unique, I am not sure about wearing them for my mission? Back home i saw several sisters that wore them and they were approved and now I am unsure as to how I ask if they are okay? Like do I call my mission home? Should I just show up and tell the MTC tuff luck I am wearing them? And what are your thoughts about wearing TOMS as a missionary? Leave your comments below!
Also I have found this wonderful website that has TOMS cheap! I have ordered several pairs and they are real! Enjoy :)

Controversial Topics!

So there are all those questions you probably have like what is okay to wear, and perhaps you have style that teeters in between being a missionary and not being a representative of Jesus Christ.

So what are your thoughts on Toms instead of flats that you buy in the old lady section?

What nail polish is okay?

Can you wear skinny jeans on P-Day?

If your going somewhere hot what type of fabrics breathe best?

Is it better to have long hair or short?

What are your questions or concerns? What items are you having a hard time finding?!

Comment below and I will respond to as many as possible!

100 DAYS!

Today I just reached my 100-day mark till I report and it is the most exciting/strange/unrealistic feeling I have ever had! As I have been able to think about it how exciting is that we get to share the gospel with others? What is your motivation to serve a mission? Is it because you want to follow the Savior? You want to bring people the same joy you have? Why are you serving?

Yesterday in mission prep we discussed this and some of the RM's had these reasons to serve but these are not the reasons you stay out, you stay out because you begin to have a slight glimpse of how much the Lord and Jesus Christ love all of us. Here is a video that is extremely touching to me and really has helped me transform my perspective as I prepare to serve hopefully it will be helpful to you as well!
